We are seeking Paralegals to work in our busy Albany, law office assisting
in the workers compensation cases. The paralegals’ expertise will be
utilized between OSI and OGC offices. Their main duties would be as
follows: organization, management and participation in work related to all
discovery matters related to legal cases in reference to defaulted group
trusts, including: gathering of all relevant documents, ensuring all
documents are scanned and organized, participating in and managing the
redaction of said documents and coordination with all involved staff in the
offices to ensure all discovery deadlines are met; coordination with Board
staff and Board contract staff to provide witness lists and other items
necessary in preparation for litigation; assisting in tracking deadlines
for these lawsuits; and coordinating information requests from the offices.
In addition, the paralegals will be used to assist in other matters related
to the above-referenced Trusts and lawsuits including gathering and
redacting documents in response to FOIL requests, legal research and
writing, preparation of affidavits, drafting and tracking of settlement
agreements, etc. Candidate will be required to perform other paralegal
duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-4 years paralegal experience; preferably in worker’s compensation
field.
- An associate's degree in paralegal studies; or satisfactory completion of
general practice legal specialty training* resulting in a certificate from
an accredited institution, or one cited by the American Bar Association as
following acceptable practices. *Normally comprised of 150 classroom hours
or more.
- Minimum of two references from within the last twenty-four months. The
two references must be relevant to this type of project to substantiate the
candidate's ability to provide such services.
- Experience in using Word XP, Word 2000, Adobe 9 and Redaction Tool
- Ability to multi-task on various projects
- Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm
Long term contract that is expected to last until Jan. 2012
